Vandals Football - Moscow Idaho
It was time for the yearly rivalry of the University of Idaho Vandals and the Boise State Broncos. My friend, a somewhat prideful Boise State fan decided that we would all head down to Moscow to watch the game this year. We had planned in years past to go, but had never taken the effort to make it happen. This year I made sure we were going since I knew it was going to be a lot of fun.

I was put in charge of getting the tickets which I had quite a hard time acquiring them and honestly I almost gave up. I first went to ticketswest.com to order them. Unfortunately they only offered ticket packages for 3 or more games. Since there was only one home game left this season this was not a logical option for us. I then called the ticket office at UofI and did not find much luck there either. As I tried to place an order for the tickets I was informed that they did not sell tickets to the public. Students were given priority for the tickets. The women helping me suggested that I ask a student attending UofI for their ticket if they were not using it. Since it had been a few years since I was in college, and had not even attended that college, the likelihood of me finding someone to part with their ticket was going to be slim to none. I was disappointed and told my story of woe to my friend at work, a UofI alum. She suggested calling Boise State to see if they had tickets for the game. Her suggestion turned out to be genius as with a simple phone call to Boise I got our tickets to the game.

Once it was game day my friends and I headed down to Moscow ready to tailgate before the game. Sadly I misjudged our travel time and we arrived twenty minutes late to the game. We pulled into a free parking lot near the Kibbie Dome and forewent the tailgating even though there were several people still tailgating in the parking lot. Since I hate being late I made everyone briskly walk to the will call ticket window, only to find out that this was not the will call we were looking for. We were sent around another side of the building to a table with a guy who had our tickets. Once we had gotten inside the building and found our section we made our way down the stairway to our seats. I was pleasantly surprised to find our seats so close to the sidelines, however we had to stand majority of the game as everyone was standing up, so there’s a plus and a negative.

As the game progressed I realized that my boyfriend was sitting next to some pretty hardcore Boise State fans. Lucky for him he’s a Boise State alum, but I could tell that the guy was a little much. His friend that was with him apologized to us and when he left to go to the restroom, told his friend not to get into trouble. Apparently he loves his football games!

The game was full of action with Boise heavily dominating the game, they were up by 35 points at the end of the game. I enjoy all sporting events but I love it even more when there is a lot of pride for the two teams. Even though Boise’s fans were separated into the four corners of the Kibbie Dome you could still see the prideful sea of Bosie State’s blue and orange sprinkled throughout UofI’s black and gold.

The game was a lot of fun and we already made plans to go back next year. It should be a breeze now that we know how to get the tickets and leave earlier to get down there for ample tailgating! The ticket issue was only due to UofI playing Boise State. You can purchase tickets from ticketswest or call UofI’s ticket office for other games. For some reason the Boise State VS UofI games are only offered as a ticket package program.

To get to Moscow head south on highway 95 for about 87 miles until you reach Moscow. Hwy 95 turns into Main Street. Turn left on 6th street and left again on Stadium Drive. We found parking for free in the lots around the Kibbie Dome. To check out the football schedule go to http://www.govandals.com/. Ticket prices range from $25 to $36 each for adults and $18 to $31 for children. To call the UofI’s ticket office they can be reached at 208-885-6466 Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm.
